Front desk guide: how to run a shift

What reception (or the concierge) does, in what order, and what you won't see.

For: front desk

What the front desk is

The front desk is the role that uses the panel most and should change prices least. That's why it sees the booking rules, registers and approves people, pauses a space and books on behalf of someone else, but does not see Money or Invoicing.

A shift

  1. Look at the booking rules: they explain why a slot can't be taken. You see them just like the person asking.
  2. Book on someone's behalf (the guide "Book from the front desk"): find the person, pick a slot and, if payment is due, mark it as paid.
  3. People: approve new sign-ups, register whoever arrives without an account and check their record. A front-desk sign-up leaves the account ready for the person to claim later from their email.
  4. Pause a space if it can't be used (a wet court, a breakdown) and reactivate it afterwards.
  5. Ticketed events: if the venue sells tickets, in the event's page paste or type the ticket's QR code and press "Validate". A ticket only gets in once; a second scan warns that it was already used.

What you won't see

Prices, deposits, finances, invoicing, the public page, integrations and the team. It's not a bug: it's what is meant for the front desk.

When something doesn't fit

Note the incident in the person's record and tell the manager. Price or rule changes are theirs to decide.
